Whittlebury Hall

Whittlebury Hall is simply a must visit when it comes to spas in the midlands. We were intrigued to see what was held in store given the fact that their packages seem to be far too good value for money to be true, so we headed along to test out their Escape & Spa Stay.

The spa is located within Whittlebury Hall hotel, which has a number of benefits. The main benefit to be pointed out though is that if you’re trying to tempt a man in your life to try out a spa day and they’ve been reluctant, then this is the one for you. Located so nearby to Silverstone there is a sports bar filled with motor racing memorabilia only steps from the spa, as well as on site golf, a fantastic top of the range gym and activities.

But back to the actual spa stay… The Escape & Stay package is only £99 per person, which includes all day access to spa facilities, a choice of treatment, 2 course lunch, overnight stay, 3 course meal and breakfast.

The spa itself is definitely at the luxurious end of the market, with exceptional heat and ice experiences, tranquil treatment rooms, relaxation areas and pool areas. You’ll be given robes for the day but it’s only a very short walk up to your room if you’re staying in the hotel. We decided to check out the gym before lunch and were taken aback by the top of the range equipment. I’m a fan of any crosstrainer that gives me built in access to youtube on it. For lunch we were treated to a wonderful selection of cooked meats, fish, salads, pasta and hot options. Whilst it says a “healthy lunch”, I’m not sure how healthy it is when you go up twice like we did, but it’s delicious none the less.

Our afternoon in the spa was spent enjoying the heat and ice experiences (although “enjoy” might not be the right word when it comes to the ice bucket), relaxing on the tranquil water beds and being treated to a shoulder massage. The masseurs were clearly very experiences and struck the right chord between professional and chatty. Almost falling sleep with relaxation we headed back upstairs in the hotel to relax before dinner. That’s the great thing about the hotel on site being included, you can pop back to your room at any time.

The restaurant for dinner is Astons and a 3 course meal is included in the price of your package. The menu is fine dining and has great options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Drinks prices aren’t cheap, but given the excellent value of everything else you don’t begrudge it at all. Swift service and delectable food left us completely satisfied as we headed to the bar for one last drink of the day.

Whittlebury Hall has got the spa package down to a tee, with affordable options for both day and overnight packages. Only a short drive from Leicestershire, it’s on your doorstep and you’ll certainly be left already trying to plan when your next visit will be!

One last mention if you’re staying on the overnight package. Breakfast. We here at Cool As Leicester are big fans of a hotel breakfast and Whittlebury Hall outdid themselves. The sentence “best buffet breakfast I’ve ever had” may have come out of our mouths!! You’ll be spoilt for choice and go home full satisfied, I assure you!
