Leicester is set to get a new outdoor events space this summer, as Jubilee Square turns into a giant fan zone for the World Cup.
Summer on the Square will run from 11 June – 19 July, becoming Leicester’s first large-scale outdoor screen and dedicated pop-up beer garden. Open throughout the FIFA World Cup period, the Square will be open daily from midday until late, bringing a summer calendar of food, drink, DJ sessions, music, film nights and live coverage of the summer’s biggest sporting events.
With a 2500-person capacity, Summer on the Square will feature a hand-picked selection of street food and drinks. From a summer bbq, artisan pizzas, and authentic tacos, to local ice cream and a pop up bar serving summer cocktails, cider, Aperol Spritz, Pimm’s, craft ales, lager, iced coffee, and lots more!

The space will also host the An Indian Summer (3 July – 5 July) and the Cosmopolitan Arts Festival (11 July) featuring a headline performance from The South.
The fan zone will be open during the full World Cup campaign, with a long tournament hoped for for England. Their current confirm fixtures are:
England v Croatia – Wednesday 17 June (9pm)
England vs. Ghana – Tuesday 23 June (9pm)
England vs. Panama – Saturday 27 June (10pm)
Further England matches and fixtures are of course dependent upon progression through the tournament.

Entry will be free at all times, however space is limited and entry will be on a first come first served basis. Organisers therefore recommend arriving early, especially for England Games to enjoy the music, pre match atmosphere, and to of course get the best seats!
Organisers have also confirmed that whilst the Square will host family friendly activities, for England fixtures it will be strictly 18+ with additional safety measures and bag searches in place.
“We can’t wait for Leicester to come together for the summer of a lifetime. Whether it’s for the football, the food, or the festivals, make Jubilee Square your home for the summer!”
Summer on the Square will open on Thursday 11 June.
