A much-loved former music festival in Leicester is making a surprise return for a final farewell.
Handmade Festival was founded in 2013 and ran annually until 2023. The festival was known for securing the best up and coming acts and supporting the DIY music scene.
Now, as O2 Academy Leicester prepares to shut its doors, the organisers are bringing Handmade Festival back to the venue one last time.
Organisers commented, “We want to celebrate the power of grassroots promoters to collaborate to create something great, and put on a party the city deserves as it navigates a period of transition and uncertainty.”
Returning as an all-day event on Saturday 5 December, there will be 13 bands across 2 stages with no clashes between acts.

The first 6 acts to be announced are:
Northern Irish instrumentalists And So I Watch You From Afar, Yorkshire’s finest Pulled Apart by Horses, Birmingham’s first sons and daughters Johnny Foreigner, Wrexham electronic powerhouse Gallops, Bristol math jazzers Sans Froid, and Southend post-rock quintet Details.
“A bill that is everything we love about Handmade with plenty of old friends from festivals past and new artists we can’t wait for you to discover.”
PLUG also returns for a silent disco after-party at Firebug after the main event.
Tickets are on sale now priced at £25.
