Three local charities have come together to raise money to support Leicestershire children and young people and they’ve got a great way for you to get involved.

Alex’s Wish, Spark Arts for Children and The Y, are inviting people to join them for Leicester’s first zip wire challenge which takes place on the 21st June in Victoria Park as the charities are calling for people to get involved, fundraise and zip wire for charity.

This is your chance to get a unique view of the city, if you dare to jump from a crane that’s 7 double decker buses high and and then enjoy views over Leicester as you zip wire down!

Paul Brown, Chief executive of The Y commented, “At The Y, our vision is for every young person to have a safe place to call home and the support they need to create lasting change in their lives. This is going to be a wonderful day and we would like to fill each and every one of the 150 spaces available so we can help as many young people as possible. Raising this money will make a huge difference to a young person’s life. Come along and join us!

Emma Hallam, founder and Director of Alex’s Wish, said, “This is an amazing opportunity to get a unique view of Leicester city before you jump from a crane seven double decker buses high and zip along the 200 meter zip wire. We are told that you will reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour! It’s a fabulous challenge and we are so excited to be involved. All money raised will go to the charity you are supporting and there are still places left!”

Carrie Carruthers, Development Manager of The Spark Arts for Children added, “We inspire children from 0 to 13 years of age through the arts. We are now the largest children’s arts festival in England and we really do need extra support to help us continue to unlock the potential in children. This event is fun and we are hoping that our loyal supporters come out, take a turn and raise money for us so that we can extend our ability to give free festival activities to even more Leicestershire children.

Do you want to get involved and take part? There is a £30 entrance fee and a requirement to raise a minimum of £100 for the charity of your choice – The Y, Alex’s Wish or The Spark Arts for Children. You can register and find further information at:
